Coalition Dharma vs Rajya Dharma

So, today was the over hyped Prime Minister ManMohan Singh's press conference where he took questions from leading news editors in India. An exercise which to me seemed very choreographed except at few times when Arnab Goswami from the Timesnow channel and the editor from Zee news channel whose name I do not know grilled the PM. But aside from reiterating most times the often towed line of his party leaders, he said nothing much new. To me the impression that the PM and his Government sought to give was that look we admit that there has been mistakes which have resulted in poor governance, an attempt to cover it up and finally we have been arrogantly non apologetic for these but know that there are compulsions like those of ruling through a coalition which we face. At one point when while replying to a question on the 2G scam, he said that the Government of the day in India is bound by 'coalition dharma' as coalition politics has become a reality of modern politics in India.

ManMohan Singh & the woman behind him
It is this dharma which has bound the governments hands in, at first preventing the scams which ministers from allied parties who occupy positions in the cabinet may commit and later in swiftly being able to punish them. By saying this Mr Prime Minister are you saying that just because your Government's chances of staying in power may be affected, you will let your allies commit the most atrocious of grafts? That Rajya Dharma is now hostage to the dharma of coalition politics in India? If so, then the people of this country will definitely remind you in national elections whenever they come that you are accountable to us Mr PM not to the Mamata Banerji's, Sharad Pawars and Karunanidhi's. The eyewash has now almost left the eyes.
