Indian Media's Intervention Puts MLA and cronies behind bars
The Indian media's picking up and running with story of the UP MLA in Banda who had 'allegedly' raped a girl of 17 and then sticking with the story has finally made some thing happen after all. The MLA after 30 days of the 'alleged' incident has been arrested and put behind bars. As a last ditch effort, the MLA has gone on record and said that he couldn't have raped the girl as he is impotent. LOL
For those not familiar with the story this is what happened:

The Electronic Indian Media Picks Up The Story And Gives It A Lot Of Air
It's only after a week the incident and the jailing of the girl that the media, luckily for the girl, gets whiff of the story and then starts playing it aggressively. Timesnow one of the better and less biased news channels of India, plays it most aggressively. As is the norm in such cases, the accused party and those connected to it, pray and hope that the story will die down. So after around 5 days, miss Mayawati (CM - UP) finally feels the pulse of the urban populace of the country and is forced to sack the MLA. Another 20 or so days pass and finally she feels the pulse even better and understands that the MLA needs to be arrested and so he has been today. The most shocking part was how they didn't even administer any medical treatment to the girl who was bleeding from her private parts when she went to the police and of course the whole angle of how she goes to jail after she has in fact been raped. So, while the media as it has proved time and again can be a nuisance, tool of promotion for some agenda, can in fact also, if it wants to, bring justice where there was for no hope for any.
